Race report from Multivan Merida Biking Team:
Dahle, Gujan win Münsingen, Germany’s MTB Bundesliga race
In Münsingen, Germany, Swiss Martin Gujan and Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle have won the second race of the «MTB-Bundesliga». Dahle showed another unchallenged victory, taking the lead from the start and giving her competitors not a hint of a chance. The men’s race was much closer, as last year’s winner Martin Gujan managed to beat Fredrik Kessiakoff and José Hermida no sooner than in the very end of the race. Hermida had been leading until the beginning of the final lap, but as his power faded, he lost several positions.
In the women’s race, Nina Göhl looked to be on course for a podium finish for quite a while. In the race’s second half, she lost three positions, finishing her race in sixth. Ralph Näf did not have a race according to his wishes: In the opening lap, he felt a sharp pain in his lungs, so he decided to abandon the race early on. The reason might be that the Swiss had been forced into his bed by a flu only a few days ago.
Moritz Milatz seemed to be on his way to a good top-ten finish for quite a while as well. After losing ground due to a flat tire, he suffered from severe cramps in the fourth lap, forcing him to abandon the race.
Multivan Merida Biking Team’s next showing is not far away, taking place next weekend. Gunn-Rita Dahle is going to start at the «Marlene Sunshine Race» in Nals, Italy, while Ralph Näf and Moritz Milatz will be competing at the Swisspower Cup’s fourth race in Winterthur, Switzerland. José Hermida and Nina Göhl are both going to travel to the Czech Republic. While Hermida is planning to compete in a cross country race in Kurim, Nina will be using a five-day road race with the German national team in order to be well prepared for the upcoming showings on a mountain bike.
