WEEK 40 (Sunday October 5, 2008) BUSY DAYS AT HOME
Finally back on Norwegian soil again, and it feels wonderful! It wasn’t
quite as wonderful to have to cut out all competitions before the end of the
season because of damage after the crashes in
WEEK
35 (Sunday.31.august 2008)
NO SUCCESS AT THE OLYMPICS
It’s tough having to drop out of the Olympics because of technical problems,
but the disappointment would have been even greater if I had been in the
lead when I had the accident. Realistically speaking, I really wasn’t a
candidate for the gold medal this time, but very few believed us.
WEEK 31 (Sunday, August 3, 2008) WORLD CUP CANADA – NO START
Due to a heavy bout of diarrhoea last night, I didn’t take part in the World
Cup race here at Bromont / Canada. After intense stomach pains and many
trips to the toilet through the night, we weren’t taking any chances on a
tough race today, even though we saw this race as an important part of the
preparations for the Olympics.
Week 29 (Sunday, July 20, 2008) WORLD CUP IN CANADA
The final test for me before the Olympics will be two World Cup races here
in Canada. There are amazingly many different races and programs to take
part in during the final preparation period before the Olympics, but most of
my competitors will be taking part here at Mt. Sainte Anne in one week from
now.
WEEK 28 (Monday, July 7, 2008) WORLD CHAMPION
It was absolutely indescribable to put on the rainbow jersey once again.
This World Championship title will for ever stand as one of the very
greatest victories for Kenneth and me, and it is guaranteed to give us
renewed strength and energy for many more years on my bike.
Week 27 (Sunday, July 06, 2008) Media release from Multivan Merida Biking Team - for immediate release Dahle-Flesjå reclaims the marathon World champion titleIn Villabassa, Italy, Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjå reclaims the title as Marathon World champion. Leading from start to finish, she has won the race in a superior way ahead of Germany’s Sabine Spitz and Finland’s Pia Sundstedt, thus winning her eigth World championship title in total and the fourth on the marathon distance. Week 26 (Monday, June 23, 2008) ROUGH DAY AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS A very demanding World Championship race track in 30 degrees, meant a really tough day at the office. Still, it was a valuable experience with good feel and flow. An acceptable seventh place at this year’s World Championship is a step in the right direction.
Week 24 (Sunday, June 15, 2008) 1 WEEK TILL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Only minor adjustments remain for the final week before the World
Championships. All races I've taken part in this year have been fantastic
preparation for me, and so will the World Championships, no matter what the
result. My latest confrontation with the world elite last weekend in Fort
William was a good experience, except for some bad luck at the beginning of
the race.
WEEK 21 (Sunday, May 25, 2008) BRONZE MEDAL AT THE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – GOOD AS GOLD
The battle for the medals was very tough at the European Championships in
St. Wedel, Germany, last weekend. I lost the sprint for the silver medal,
but the bronze medal was just as wonderful as a gold medal for Kenneth and
me, considering our goals before the race, which were to feel on top of
things and get in some extremely good race-training.
WEEK 20 (Friday, May 16, 2008) HAIRLESS PREPARATIONS FOR EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS For Kenneth, this has been a rather painful period leading up to the European Championships. Our preparation is proceeding as planned. The only problem is that my husband is missing all the hair from off his chest, after yesterday’s experience with the wax.
WEEK 19 (Friday, May 9, 2008) EXTREME EXPERIENCE ON MY BIKE
The race was a fight right up to the very last metre. Blood, sweat and tears
are an integral part of our sport, but my comeback to the world elite last
Sunday was an experience I will never forget, for quite different reasons.
Many people deserve a part of my World Cup victory last Sunday. And the bet
I made with Kenneth before my triumph is guaranteed to be a spectacular
séance…
04.05.2008 The Multivan Merida Biking Team strikes back Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå wins in Madrid, José Hermida finishes second At Madrid’s mountain bike worldcup race the Multivan Merida Biking Team returned to its old strength. Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå outsprinted Marie-Hélène Prémont to win the race, while José Hermida only let Julien Absalon finish ahead of him.
Week 17 (Sunday, April 17) ROUGH START TO THE WORLD CUP
My very first World Cup race in eleven months was a tough confrontation with
the mountain biking elite. The following day when I got up, my body felt as
if it had been beaten up in a fight. Even so, my results from Houffalize the
previous weekend were surprising and encouraging, as I came in as number 6.
Today, in the German town of 23.04.2008 Back in the limelight The region paper home in Stavanger, Stavanger Aftenblad was on site this weekend with Gunn-Rita and took some nice pictures.
WEEK 15 (Monday April
7, 2008) FIRST OFF-ROAD RACE
My first confrontation with rough terrain this year was
very demanding. A few slips and falls, plus cramping in fingers and lower
arms, really gave me an authentic sensation of being back in my element.
Fantastic to be on the go again!
WEEK 13 (Sunday, March 30, 2008) GALA BALL AT CASTLE It was wonderful taking part in this year’s presentation of the Gunn-Rita Marathon, which took place in a 1000-year-old castle here in the
Week 13 (Tuesday, March 25, 2008) GREAT FIRST RACE
My very first race in almost 10 months tasted simply delicious. My encounter
with the World Cup riders on tarmac yesterday in the Italian town of
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 GUNNRITA MARATHON APRIL 20
Last Sunday we went out and tested the new addition to the GunnRita Marathon
race track. The track had to be lengthened due to the requirements for the
marathon cycling discipline. Moreover, Italy is hosting the European
Championships in Marathon cycling in 2010 and the Italian Championships in
2009. So this year you can go for the “Extreme” distance of
WEEK 12 (Tuesday, March 18, 2008) DO AS ANGELINA JOLIE
When Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå selling
cloths in Europe, she does the same thing as Angelina Jolie; dress up like
Lara Croft in the movie ”Tomb Raider”.
WEEK 11 (Monday, March 10, 2008)

On Thursday morning we bid a final farewell to our apartment in WEEK 7 (Wednesday, February 13, 2008) NEW HOME PAGE BACK ON TOP? A brand new year lies before us, full of unimagined potential. It’s up to us to realize many of the possibilities this New Year holds. We started our new year in Boulder, Colorado, and we’re full of anticipation for the upcoming year.
