MONTELLO GUNN-RITA MARATHON

FANTASTIC CYCLING EXPERIENCE
[Translation: Crispen T.P. de Lange]

Two months without a bike is not what I’m used to, and it certainly doesn’t feel right. I feel a tingling sensation in my body and legs each time Kenneth comes home from long bike rides and tells me about all he’s experienced, and all the excess energy and well-being it’s given him in both body and soul. Soon it’ll be my turn again, and I really hope that one of my first great cycling experiences will be a trip to Italy at the end of June! Our new little addition to the family is calling the shots through the summer, but I really hope to take part in Gunn-Rita Marathon this summer J

If you’re out for an unforgettable cycling experience in the summer of 2009, you should definitely head for Montebelluna in the north of Italy in June. On the 28th of June, the Gunn-Rita Marathon will once again take place, with start and finish in the small and fabulous town of Montebelluna, north of Treviso.

The track winds its way through beautiful nature, over hills and mountains, along tractor roads and single-track, weaving its way over fields and through vineyards on very exciting terrain. Apart from a few short stretches on asphalt, the rest is mostly single-track and a few old dirt roads, making the race inspiring and exciting from start to finish.

Designate this whole weekend to cycling and fun with family and friends. The organizer behind the race, Pedali di Marca, will have programs and various activities in the centre of town, beginning on Friday evening and continuing late into Sunday night after the race is over. Singing, dancing, good food and good drinks in the best of Italian style - something I can certainly never get too much of.

This race has become very popular, also amongst elite cyclists, so the chance of meeting some of the world’s best mountain bikers is great. I’m looking forward to the race, but also to meeting cycling enthusiasts from all over Italy and the rest of the world. Decide today to take part, and start your training tomorrow. Good luck J
